Via BoingBoing, Blogger Brian Walsh reports on his recent rotten experience going to the theater. I’ve never had an experience that bad, but I’ve been in theaters with bratty kids, talking jackasses, and people who are generally doing anything besides actually watching the movie. I’m pretty much done with theaters until they do something to make the experience more pleasant. A few are making an effort, but it’s not enough.
My issues are with the forced viewings of copyright warnings on DVDs. I can understand forcing the viewer to see warnings on a rental. I don’t like it, but I can understand. But it really grinds my gears when I spend money on a DVD only to see two minutes of copyright warnings before I can get to any of the actual content. Look, Hollywood, I already did the right thing by buying the damn thing, so stop insulting me with warnings about how I’d better not be doing any illegal copying. Start tracking down the real copyright infringers, the ones with presses who can mass produce copied DVDs and CDs. Stop abusing your customers.
