War is Hell: The First Flight of the Phantom Eagle # 2 cover

I gave this a second issue, but it’s simply not measuring up to Ennis’ earlier War Stories, nor is it a capable book on its own. The comic’s direction seems uncertain, and the main character is one who appears innocent and should be likable, but I can’t seem to care about him. And while the art is a book usually doesn’t matter so much to me, the art in this one is just …. off. And weird. I wish the comic were better, as I’m a sucker for a war comic. Guess I’ll simply wait for the next Ennis war comic and give it a shot.
