—Roy L.T is a stupid name for a criminal. The play-on-words nonsense doesn’t work for Azzarello, so, please, Brubaker, please don’t stoop to that level. Thankfully it’s only done once in this issue.
—A lot of writers are doing stories without a true good guy, just a lot of complicated characters who reside somewhere in morality’s grey middle ground. But right now, no one is doing it as well as Brubaker in Criminal.
—It’s nice to finally see a truly smart criminal. During conversation in the diner, we read perhaps the greatest piece of comic book wisdom: “Violence just … It’s got a ripple effect. You know that. And I try not to cause any ripples …” Yet another piece of a character’s humanity that sets this story apart from everything else coming out of Marvel.
