Everything that’s come out under The Goon title with Eric Powell’s name on it has been good, if not comic book gold. The stories are always funny, fun, and appear to undergo at least some revision. In other words, The Goon is one of those rare titles where the creator actually gives a damn about quality.
From the first page with the fake book “Oral Sex with the Retarded: The Do’s and Don’t’s” to the outrageous conception of the Anti-Christ via the Devil’s buttsex with a hillbilly, Powell does a good job with the over-the-top humor. If you’re a Goon fan and can find this issue, buy it. It’s definitely classic Powell humor and worth checking out.
And, one of the truest lines in all comics books ever is on the last page: “And somewhere out there, some strange person who has a fetish for hand-drawn breasts is furiously masturbating to this very page you are looking at right now.” And I was thinking the same thing just moments before getting to that panel.
