Testament # 7
Writer: Douglas Rushkoff; Layouts (pencils?): Peter Gross; Finishes (inks?): Gary Erskine
Testament # 7 works through its narrative pretty much as the previous issues did. A mostly current-time story contrasts with myths from the Old Testament/Torah. Issue 7 contrasts the Biblical creation and following tale of Cain and Abel with a current timeline account involving artificial intelligence.
There is very little critical analysis to be made of this arc so far, mostly because not enough happens in issue 7. Looking at issue 7 alone, the comparison between creation, the first murder, and the artificial intelligence story seem forced. Since this is the first part of a larger arc, possibly 4 to 6 issues, perhaps the Biblical myths will take on a larger meaning as the book progresses.
The first six issues were amazing. Here’s to hoping that the following issues retain the same quality.

[...] Issue 8 is a huge improvement over issue 7. My complaint with the previous issue’s tenuous connection between the Old Testament story and the current story thankfully doesn’t apply to this issue. This time it’s Joseph and his brothers contrasted with the current story of Alec and the main characters. Since Alec has joined the other side, and he is meant to represent a modern day Joseph, then it does seem likely that Alec will someday be the go-between who lets the main characters out of a government or corporate trap.
