So, Cap is dead. Or so say the news stories, since I’m not reading any of the Civil War garbage. The NY Daily News has a little more on the topic (emphasis added):
His death is sure to ignite controversy in the comic book world – still reeling from Superman’s death in 1993 and resurrection the following year – and even political pundits, who may see Captain America’s demise as an allegory for the United States.
We are? Really? Huh. And here I thought I didn’t give a good god damn about it all these years.
Reason magazine has some good conversation on the issue:
60 years on the job and he can’t even make it to major? He deserves to be booted.

OMG THEY BLEW UP COAST CITY!!!
…..wow, who on Earth writes this stuff. “Still reeling”? I mean….that’s just wrong. All kinds of wrong.

Yeah, the “still reeling” bit gave me a good chuckle. My experience is that people look at Superman’s death with a mix of cynicism and indifference. But, what do I know on a slow news day?

All I know is, he’ll be back. They all come back in the end.
Well, apart from that Bucky guy.
Uh, wait. I meant Jason T – um. Green Arrow? No, wait, I meant Green Lan…um…Barry Allen, anyone?

The only thing that’ll kill a character for good is a copyright dispute.
