StumbleuponThere’s a lot of crap advice out there on how to break into comics. (Yeah, I’m looking at you, Wizard. Among others.) From everything I’ve heard from folks who have broken in, it’s hard work getting there and harder work staying. Just like anything worth doing, it requires lots of effort.
KC Carlson has a great article over at Westfield Comics about doing portfolio reviews. It’s an incredibly honest look at not only what it takes to get in, but how to approach the gatekeepers. It’s a bit painful to read some of his experiences, but the story of the 10-year-old at the end makes all the discomfort worth it.
